SASIE Ltd Working in Partnership with ncn and Install+RES – The Back Story

Sasie Ltd’s Managing Director Mo Kelly had until recently sat on the board of directors for the Solar Trade Association for a period of four years. Three of those years were as the chair of the training division, as this is an area Mo Kelly has always felt very strongly about and he has championed the cause for apprenticeship training within the renewables sector.

Two years ago, Sasie Ltd took Alan Simpson MP, Kevin Gowdy (Director of Construction at ncn Basford Hall), and two members of the Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council responsible for training to Munich, visiting what is believed to be the best renewable training in Europe to date.

This course is run by Willi Kirkensteiner at the Munich College of Further Education.

Sasie Ltd have an established partnership with Christiani GmbH which gives Sasie Ltd exclusive rights to re-sell Christiani training rigs throughout the UK. These rigs are the best training rigs within Europe.

Sasie Ltd has also gained the copyrights to all the training material which has been developed, tested and delivered over the last 15 years. The delivery in Europe has been from the best practicing installation engineers in their fields. We are using this well-tested European model to deliver the first pilot course of Install+RES (Renewable Energy Systems) within the UK, in combination with the Christiani rigs.

This pilot scheme will be delivered in partnership with ncn (New College Nottingham) at the Basford Hall campus – the third largest construction college in the UK.

Install+RES was a Leonardo da Vinci Programme-funded European training package designed to deliver an EQC mapped against 16 European countries’ national QCFs.

An agreement negotiated by Mo Kelly with 8 countries within the RESInstaller group over a two week period has been successful, and we have been given the following: All 8 of these countries will use the UK National Occupational Standard using the same questions on all four disciplines as in the UK. We will initially be piloting four the following –

Solar Thermal – Photovoltaic – Ground/Air Source Heat Pumps – Biomass

We will, in cooperation with our partners, check and measure the results from this pilot course and look at obtaining best practice over all countries for delivery of a European Standard.
